I just had lunch with Jeremy and Lawson and Kathy at the Atlanta Bread Company. I had soup and a sandwich. It was good.

Ingram Hill is playing this weekend at the New Daisy, so I'm trying to win tickets from the radio station. This is probably the last show they'll do here for a while, being on the cusp of stardom and all.

I got a call from the body shop, and my car is ready! I'm going to pick it up after work. Then we're going over to Shelby Farms for the Train concert and the fireworks. Then I don't have to go to work tomorrow! Yay!

I am not going to make the cake for the 4th this year. Instead, I will make it next week, when more people will be available to enjoy it. :) Because patriotic baked goods are always welcome.

I hate it when guy friends start acting all spastic. (Not you, Jeremy and Lawson. :)) Most of the time they're there for you, and you feel pretty secure in their friendship. Then they start running after some girl, and it's like you don't exist. Then as soon as the girl is gone, they come trotting back to you and expect everything to be okay. It's not okay! I, for one, am tired of being a consolation prize. But if you refuse to be a consolation prize, you lose your guy friends. You can't win. Sigh. I know this is a well-traveled road, but I couldn't help mentioning it again. :P :)

One of the bloggers I read regularly is spending his summer as a missionary to Mormons in Salt Lake City. What he has written so far is fascinating, and I look forward to hearing more about his experiences. You should all check it out.

That's all. Happy early 4th!

I'm looking through you.
Where did you go?
I thought I knew you,
What did I know?
You don't look different but you have changed.
I'm looking through you,
You're not the same.

Yes, I have had that happen often in the past with "girl" friends as well. It's like I am their surrogate boyfriend. They act all chummy, best friend when they are single, and then they find some dolt of a guy who you know won't treat them well but for some reason they have a crush on him and you dont hear from them forever, and then they break up, and she gets hurt (and whines about the very things you knew was going to happen), and then comes back to me in this mock strong friendship thing. Many of my female friends were like that. Another dilemma of the male-female friendship. But, don't worry, it's also a passing thing...they were my college friends...older people, more mature people emotionally, act differently and give you more respect.

Yes, that's it exactly. Except from this side of the line, it's not the girls running after guys who will hurt them, but guys running after girls who are mysterious and evasive. Because guys apparently prefer the unknown to the familiar. Some, then, would counsel me to be more "aloof," but I think that's a load of crap. You're never going to have a real relationship if you keep playing games. That's the whole point of my new "not a consolation prize" declaration. I have forfeited the game. I refuse to play anymore. Because even if you win, what kind of a victory is it, really?

Those "emotionally mature" guys you mention- I know they're out there somewhere. Maybe I will meet a few in my lifetime.

Gosh. Running on at the mouth (actually, fingers). :) Sorry.

Absolutely right. I agree. :) You definitely do deserve better. You deserve a guy who will give you 100%, won't play mindgames, and is honest with you. I never liked the mysterious or elusive girls, that is a part of the immature thing I mentioned.
You are a beautiful, compassionate, and spiritually mature woman who would be a wonderful girlfriend, let alone wife, to some lucky guy someday. But hold out for the best, Brenda, cause you deserve him. :) Lightning quaking outside, I guess I should quickly log off of here before a KA-BAM zaps my hard drive. Take care and have a good fourth. :)
