Goodbye, Veronica Mars.
May. 23rd, 2007 10:34 amOkay, I didn't see most of the first hour because I was watching Idol, though I did catch enough through flipping to follow it (I also have it on tape). So my thoughts may have holes. :)
For a finale that didn't know it was a finale, I thought it was appropriate in a lot of ways. The series began with Veronica and Keith as outcasts, facing the world together, and to a lesser degree that's kind of how it ended. I felt like we got our moments with most of the main characters, too.
The "Bad Day" song, "Where is he?" times two = HILARIOUS.
I gasped when they showed that portrait of Lilly, but figured it out before the commercials were over.
I don't know if I missed it or just forgot, but when did Weevil get the injury that caused his limp?
I would have thought Veronica would be in SERIOUS danger after releasing the member list for the secret society. Like that other girl isn't going to tell everyone regardless of what Jake Kane says. :|
SO typically male: It drove me nuts that when Dick was trying to open up to Logan about his guilty brother feelings, Logan tried to make it all better by saying "Hey, let's go catch some waves." GAH.
Of course I'm very upset that we didn't get a Veronica/Logan reunion, but they did come to some sort of understanding. That's better than nothing, I guess. :(
I may add to this later but that's all I can think of right now. So much was unresolved. I wish they could do a REAL finale, but I'm sure the CW won't agree to that. They wouldn't even acknowledge that it was a series finale! Insult to injury. I've had it with them and their 25 Pussycat Dolls.

Date: 2007-05-23 04:31 pm (UTC)What "Where is he?" part do you mean?
It's not like they/Rob Thomas didn't have a clue that it might be their series finale, so I think they could've done a little better job with some things. And imagining this as just a season finale is still disappointing. I mean, how would that make me want to watch next season?
I thought the first episode was a good reminder of the great parts of the show, though, which is unfortunate since it was the last night of the show. :P
I didn't get the Jake Kane part either. She distributes the list and then gives him back the hard drive as if no harm has been done (aside from whatever she read/saw). Isn't he going to find out in like a day that she gave out information, and then isn't the deal off?
Oh and I'm slow, because I was confused on why Lilly's picture was on the wall, and even after Veronica was hiding out I didn't recognize Jake! Why did they have to go and put facial hair on him after we hadn't seen him for like a year? Sheesh. And weird how Celeste seemed so out of the picture.

Date: 2007-05-23 06:07 pm (UTC)The way the camera panned to Lilly's picture and the scary boom in scary movies scared me. It took me awhile to recognize Jake Kane; the beard really threw me off.
Veronica and Logan's old character flaws were back - the revenge, the anger, the beating people up. They really reminded me of their season 1 characters. Even Keith destroying evidence was a dramatic way to remind us that he'd to anything to protect his daughter.
I shouted at the TV at the ending left me hanging. Logan and Veronica were left hanging, the sheriff's race was left hanging.
It was more like a season finale, not series finale.
Now I will definitely miss the show. I wish there would've been more episodes like this one in season 3: suspense and drama and character flaws and developments.

Date: 2007-05-25 04:21 pm (UTC)I got a bit tired of LJ. I've been okay, just sluggish and don't feel like doing anything. I'm 6 months pregnant and just started on my registry. I gained 30 lbs. already! Yipes. The first 20 lbs., I can understand because I ate a lot 2 months ago, but last month I gained 10 more lbs. and that really surprised me because I was eating less. There's a 10 lb. discrepancy in my home scale and the doc's manual scale. I really don't get it. My home scale was telling me I'd only gained 1 lb. per week so I was floored when I went to the doc and she said I gained *10* lbs. since the month before.
I walk every day during lunch, so that's great.

SO typically male: It drove me nuts that when Dick was trying to open up to Logan about his guilty brother feelings, Logan tried to make it all better by saying "Hey, let's go catch some waves." GAH.
That's because Logan was feeling guilty that he didn't try to stop Beaver from jumping.

Date: 2007-05-25 11:06 pm (UTC)Stupid CW and getting rid of all their good shows without a real wrap-up. At least they're keeping Supernatural.
