News items from this weekend:

- The Hurricanes party at my family's house was fun, but the game was emotionally exhausting. Evan and Ryan, being Midwesterners, rooted for Ohio State, but kindly refrained from gloating at the end when they saw how desolate my family and I were. :) Poor Willis McGahee. What a great player. I hope he heals okay.

- On Saturday, Kathy, Em, and I went to a jewelry party at MaryElaine's. It was one of those pyramid schemes where they not only try to sell you jewelry, but also try to get you to sell jewelry. We all bought jewelry, but refused to do anything else. :P

- Saturday evening we went out for my dad's birthday. I bought him the Alicia Keys CD, which he had mentioned to me a few months ago. My mom laughed at me and asked why I bought that. My dad put it on the stereo and danced with me around the kitchen. :)

- Our loud, obnoxious across-the-hall neighbor is moving in three weeks. She mentioned this to us as we passed on the stairs. We are beside ourselves with joy.

- Kathy and Daniel have left for a week of skiing in Gatlinburg with Kathy's family. I am glad to have a few days of Space and Solitude.

- Thanks to Daniel's family, I am meeting Kathy and Daniel in Nashville next Saturday to attend a taping of Wheel of Fortune. This is the next best thing to actually being on the show. I am excited. :)

I'd like that! I'm not sure I'll be able to, though, since I have to ride up with Daniel's family (all of whom I have met once). But I'll ask Kathy about it next time I talk to her.

You know... pyramid schemes are illegal. If there is any fee to be able to sell the jewelry, then it's a violation of federal law.
