If I don't accomplish anything interesting this year, at least I can say that I went to a taping of Wheel of Fortune! I ended up driving by myself to Nashville, which was a more pleasant experience than I had expected. It was a pretty day, the scenery was nice, and I could listen to anything I wanted. :) I got to Opry Mills without much incident and met Kathy and her family and Daniel and his family for lunch at the Rainforest Cafe. Then we went over to the Grand Ole Opry house for the taping. We had to sit there for an hour and a half beforehand, because the seats weren't guaranteed. This gave me plenty of time to take pictures of the stage and stuff. They taped three episodes, which will air Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of Valentine's week. (Look for me- I was in the balcony, wearing a bright yellow Aeropostale fleece.) It was fun, although the novelty sort of wore off after a while. We saw Pat and Vanna, and Charlie the announcer, and several life-sized Hershey's Kisses that danced around before commercial breaks. When they finished taping the show, they had to do several promo spots which were sort of interesting to watch.

Anyway, it was an adventure, and I don't have anything else to talk about right now.

Yes, but Tennessee has three distinct geographic regions. (And now, prepare to benefit from Brenda's Geography minor.) :)

1. West Tennessee is the Mississippi Floodplain, which is flat and boring. This includes Memphis.

2. Middle Tennessee, starting at the Tennessee River (which is the river in that picture), is mainly a plateau with lots of hills. There is a name for this. I don't remember it, though.

3. East Tennessee is the Great Smoky Mountains. Which are, obviously, mountains. :)

Hi! That's interesting, I'm glad you told us about your experience. I've always been curious and wanted to go to a taping of something. Hey, come visit and we'll go to LA and see Friends!

Some questions:

How long did it take to tape all three shows?
Did the winning contestant change clothes between tapings?
What else did you do in Nashville?

Yaaay! I would love that!

1. It took several hours.
2. It was "Sweethearts Week" (bleah) so they didn't bring back the same contestants. But Pat and Vanna changed between shows, which was why the whole thing took so long. (Vanna's dresses got progessively better. The first one looked like something Madonna might have worn in 1984. :P)
3. We met at the Opry Mills mall, which is a really huge outlet mall. I went straight to the Gap Outlet when we got there, but I didn't get to shop anywhere else. And we came right home afterwards.

Thanks! :) I'm so glad, because I worry that I'm annoying you guys with all the pictures.

Yes, I like Nashville too. Next year my sister is going to college there, and I'll probably be visiting more. :)

How cool! I don't watch Wheel of Fortune that much, but I wish I'd known about that. Of life's experiences, listing "I watched a taping of the Wheel" would like nifty, I think. You should make a habit of driving to Nashville more often, it's one of my most favorite things to do. And of course, for the same reasons. The scenery and being your own personal DJ. If not for that, then an experience at the shopping theme-park they like to call Opry Mills more than makes up for any boredome you may otherwise esperience. -kati
