Hello all.

My weekend was okay. When my radio alarm went off on Saturday morning, I slowly realized that people were talking in serious voices. I picked out the words "launch," "Camp David," and "President," and immediately thought that we were under attack. Before I was even fully conscious, I leapt out of bed and ran into the living room, scaring Kathy to death with my unintelligible shrieking. We turned on the TV and saw what had happened. I was sad. I called my dad, and he told me that the Columbia was the shuttle I had watched take off when I was little. (We used to drive up to Cape Canaveral for the launches.) I've been praying for the families of the astronauts. I think at least a couple of them were believers, so that is a comfort to everyone.

Around lunchtime [livejournal.com profile] aardwolf came to pick me up and we went to the basketball game with [livejournal.com profile] yakko7178 and his girlfriend. (Pictures to come in Lawson's journal.) It was fun. Then Lawson and I hung out at the apartment and then went to his house and watched Jurassic Park II, which I mostly spent hiding under my jacket while he laughed at me. Fun times. :)

On Sunday I took a nap that was entirely too long, which whacked me out for the too-little remainder of the day. This is becoming a pattern. I used to be able to nap for an hour on Sundays and then get up, but I've been so tired that I just keep sleeping. More iron in my diet might be a good idea. :P

I'm bored with my icons. I have many nice pictures of myself, the cat, etc. but when I resize them to icon size, most of them look horrible. Bleah.

You can send the pictures to me... I've got a lot of practice shrinking pictures down while still making them look good. Just e-mail them, I guess...

Lawson's too quick for me! I was going to say that I think your pictures are fine, but if you want, you can send me the original size and I can have my fun and make some possibles for you if you want. It's kind of a selfish request because I just like to do it. :)

Wow!

Thanks for the help, guys. :) I sent some to Jessica...we'll see what she can do. :)

I do like this new Bun icon, though. He looks very smooth and almost gangsterish, if a bunny can be gangsterish. :)

It's funny... remember the Challenger? (Well, if you didn't, you must now.) Well, my mom worked for Honeywell when I was young. She actually helped build the Challenger - if I remember right, she worked on something in the cockpit, and maybe the booster cones as well. But in any case, I met some of the astronauts who died in that explosion. One of them gave me a toy shuttle which I played with so much that it's long since fallen to pieces, but I still have the picture he signed for me...

There's no ultimate point to this post. Just thought I'd share. This has brought back some of my earliest memories.

I never expected to see it happen again.

When I was listening to the news hours after the space shuttle incident, I heard that people that found debris were actually trying to sell it online. Words can't describe how angry that made me and how disgusted I was when I heard that.

On a lighter note though, I think youre LJ user pics are cool. :)

Uhm, what does "fin de semana" mean?
