Anybody want a recap of my weekend? Well, too bad. You're going to get one anyway. :)
On Friday night, we gathered at the apartment to play Risk. Kathy, Jamie, and several other members of the Toronto Clique were in attendance. (Evan was supposed to be there, but his brakes suddenly died again and he had to go fix them, leaving me rather dejected.) To my own surprise, I really liked Risk. Only one of us had ever played before. We knew we were doing something wrong when we all only had one man on each country, and could no longer attack each other. After several readings of the rule book, someone finally found our problem on page 2. :) By then we were sick of the game, so we went to IHOP and then to Towers to see Jamie's new room. She still lives on the third floor, where Kathy, Em, and I lived for three years. Kathy and I visited our old door, and felt strange. We decided it was good that we don't go over there very often. :) Just as we were about to leave, Crossroads came on the Residence Life Channel, and the males in the group insisted that we stay and watch it. It was better than XXX. That's about all I can say. :)
On Saturday, Kathy and I exercised, had a great lunch of grilled cheese sandwiches, and headed to Bartlett to run a million errands. (If anyone needs shoes, Payless is having a great sale.) We stopped by my family's house to see my sister's "baby"- she's taking Child Development and had one of those crying baby dolls for the weekend. She loves kids, so she was having a great time. After bidding goodbye to my "nephew" (which was pretty scary, let me tell you), we went to Kathy's family's house for dinner. There we played with a real baby, Kathy's 15-month-old nephew, who is adorable. MaryElaine and Royce were also there, so we saw them for the first time since the wedding. It was good to see them, but a little strange. (Expect a post about Smug Married Couples this week.) :)
Sunday was kind of bleah. I had been looking forward to the speaker who was lecturing about Islam during Sunday School time, but he didn't say anything I hadn't learned in World Civ three years ago. Then our pastor was on vacation, so someone else was preaching. Then we went to lunch, and I was an unwilling party to a snippy argument between two of my friends. I went home intending to work on my scrapbook, as I do every Sunday, and taking a long nap instead, as I also do every Sunday. I called Evan, who was on the other line and said he would call me right back. He never did. Lacking anything else to do, I went to a church barbecue with Kathy. I didn't realize it was a youth-group fundraiser barbecue, which meant that we ended up in the kitchen slicing bread and heating up ribs for an hour. Not what I had expected. When we came home, I managed to get two scrapbook pages done while watching Contact. It was the high point of my day. :P
But now it is a new week, and RUF starts back tomorrow night, so hopefully things will get better. I've been pretty irritable lately. I don't know what's wrong with me.
For all of you who started school today, I hope you have a great semester. :)
