carrying the light
Aug. 29th, 2002 04:30 pmWe just had a champagne-and-cake party here at my work, because one of our hotel brands has won the JD Power award for the fourth year in a row. The brand manager, who is a nice and fun guy, gave a speech. He talked about a lot of things, and one of them was "the light inside," how some people just seem to have a light inside them that draws people to them and makes others feel good. (I'm severely paraphrasing, but that was the gist.) I don't think this guy is a Christian, but what he said really made me feel good. Because I have a light inside me, and it is the light of Christ, which will never burn out. :) It made me think of this:
You are the light of the world--like a city on a mountain, glowing in the night for all to see. Don't hide your light under a basket! Instead, put it on a stand and let it shine for all. - Matthew 5:14-15, New Living Translation
(I usually don't like the Living Translation, but I think it really captures the tone of this verse.)
So be glad! We have the Light of the World inside us. I am suddenly re-committed to letting that light shine in me. :)
(Oh, and on days like this, I am glad that I work here. :))
