water-related
Sep. 25th, 2002 02:07 pmFor no apparent reason, waterskiing is on my mind today. Whenever we go out on a boat, I waterski. I won't do the kneeboard because I'm afraid it will pop up and hit me in the mouth (hey, it happened to my dad), and I don't do the inner tube because I don't like sports where the objective is to throw the person off. :) But I know how to ski. So I ski. The weird thing is, I'm not sure I really like it. I like the flying feeling, but if the water isn't completely calm, I have to concentrate so hard just to stay upright that I can't enjoy it much. It's almost too much stress. Also, I apparently ski with my knees together and my legs out, a bird-like pose inherited from my mother. I thought I had stopped it last time we went skiing, but it turned out Evan was just tactfully not mentioning it. :) So. Anybody else have any strong feelings about water sports? :)
Em should arrive in town very soon. She had to stop for the night in Jackson, having spent two hours just crossing the lake. But soon she will be here, and can rest in safety. :) On a related note, Daniel called from England last night! It was great to hear from him. He's working at the BBC, and yesterday he even got on the air! Wow. :)
The tails of the hurricane are coming closer to us. It's going to be an interesting couple of days!
