you're everything I couldn't be
Jun. 2nd, 2003 08:37 amSorry I didn't post these earlier. I kept hoping to get more pictures, but it didn't work out.

And, just for comparison's sake... :)

We had a family catastrophe yesterday. I was on my way to a church cookout when my mother called in a very freaked-out state to tell me that my brother was over at their church and had been hit in the eye with a drumstick and they had called an ambulance, and I needed to come home right now. So I turned the car around and managed to get to the house in ten minutes, praying and freaking out the whole way. I kept thinking about my brother's archery and golfing and all the things he loves, and how hard it would be to do them with one eye. It turned out that he just had a scratch on his eye (not the lid, his actual eye), which is nothing to sneeze at, but at least everything's still intact. He's in some pain, but he's taking it generally well and finds his temporary eye patch very funny. I'm so thankful that it wasn't worse.
The rest of the weekend wasn't much better, really. I spent a lot of time with MaryElaine- we grilled out at her house and watched Stargate SG-1 (hi,
dakoda), and hung out at the apartment and watched Star Trek: Nemesis, and had a nice quiet time together. But I was kind of annoyed about other things. I just need to hang on for another two weeks, and then California will clear my head. :)
Oh, I had an LJ dream last night! Jessica and Dania and Lisa, and I think Jonathan, were all at the apartment, and there was another horrible storm with tornado sirens, and I was like "Why does this always happen when people come to visit me?" Then I told Kathy that we couldn't do Pilates in the morning because everyone was sleeping in the living room. And then my alarm went off, and, since no one was actually in my living room, I had to get up. :)

Date: 2003-06-02 07:06 am (UTC)That thing with your brother, what a shake-up. Not too long ago my cat got a scratch on his eye. It healed VERY fast. I suspect he will be alright.

Date: 2003-06-02 07:19 am (UTC)I am glad to hear that your brother is alright. But can you imagine the stories to come out of this when he's older. "You know, when I was younger I almost poked my eye out with a drumstick." It reminds me of the Christmas Story movie line - "You'll shoot your eye out."
So, you're getting to go to California, huh? I know you had talked about it a while back about going to visit Jess but your parents had "a lot" to say about it. You ought to enjoy it. I've never been there. I have a good friend/old roommate from college who recently moved to San Diego. I'm gonna' have to find an excuse to go visit and it helps that Southwest has the best prices and flies direct from Nashville.
The last really good dream that I remember? One with Vin Diesel - don't ask. It's actually quite funny but it was attached to a not-so-good dream at the end.
Well, guess I should get some work done. Have a great day!

Date: 2003-06-02 08:28 am (UTC)LOL, I know! My dad was like, "Well, now you can say seriously that 'it's all fun and games till someone loses an eye.'" :)
Yeah, I'm going to California. I am so excited. My family has gotten over it, I think. :) And I'm jealous that you have access to Southwest! I would take so many more trips if I could fly that cheaply. But by the time I drive to Nashville or Little Rock, it's really not worth it to me.
Thanks for commenting! I hope you have a great day too! :)

Date: 2003-06-02 07:20 am (UTC)I sometimes have fears of getting phone calls like that where someone has been hurt. I've had a couple in my life, but most weren't so much physical hurt as a family trauma that's happened.
Sorry we couldn't get you out of doing Pilates. :)

Date: 2003-06-02 08:30 am (UTC)Yeah. It was bad. She was totally panicking and I really thought someone had died or been seriously hurt. So in comparison to what could have been, it was a relief. :P

I'm glad your brother is okay! That's scary!

Date: 2003-06-02 05:05 pm (UTC)So how did the episode go??? I'm guessing you watched the second half of the ep I saw last week which got continued. I called from the concert and asked my dad to tape it for me because I forgot to set the VCR, but I think he may have forgotten. Did Daniel make it out okay??? ::suspense::
Your hair looks so cute!! And those pictures of you are beautiful. I love the Gandalf one! :D

Date: 2003-06-03 06:07 am (UTC)I'm not sure how old the episode was, since she has a whole tape of them, but we watched the one where the black hole tried to come through the stargate and messed up the whole space-time continuum. I love physics so I thought it was very interesting. :) I also saw part of an episode at home on Sunday afternoon- apparently it comes on regular channels then. Daniel wasn't really in the episode I saw until the end. Anyway, it's a good show. :)

Date: 2003-06-05 02:56 pm (UTC)Did you say you were coming to Cali? :D

Date: 2003-06-06 06:24 am (UTC)AMEN to that. When I was in middle school, my mother used to take me there every month or two to keep up my horrible short haircut that she forced me to have. It was very traumatic and I have not gone to Fantastic Sam's since. :P
Yes, but I'm coming to Sacramento. Which is a little out of your neighborhood. :( However, I may possibly be taking a business trip to Beverly Hills in the fall. I'll definitely let you know if that goes through. :)
