Look at me, posting before lunch! Yee haw.

I had a really fun surprise last night- Lauren called me! I was so excited to talk to her. We had a nice conversation until a thunderstorm came and forced me off the phone. Hopefully we can make the calls a more regular thing! Lauren, how did those potatoes come out?

My fun night continued with my first band practice since Easter ([livejournal.com profile] admael, I thought about looking around the church for you, but I didn't know if you'd be there). We're starting on Christmas music; I thought the director guy was kidding at first. It's a fairly easy overture, but the music is badly handwritten and it's hard to play when you have to guess the note. :P I'm planning to fix it with my very professional Sharpie, because I just can't work that way.

Anyway, after practice I made spontaneous plans with Evan. He was supposed to be done fixing his truck by the time I got to his house, but when I arrived he was still welding. :) So I helped him put his truck tools away, which was interesting since I didn't know where anything went. Then I got on his computer and talked to Shana (yay!) while he cleaned up. By the time we were ready to go get some ice cream, as was our plan, nothing was open except the Wendy's pick-up window. So we spent an hour or so eating Frostys in the Wendy's parking lot. It was fun. I'm glad I got to see him, since he's going on another off-road extravaganza this weekend and then I'll be in Michigan, so we might not get to hang out for a while. But I'm very tired today.

Here's something for discussion. Do your real-life friends understand the whole LJ/online friends thing, or do they think you're weird? My friends tolerate my jabbering about you guys, but I think they find it a little disturbing. Evan's the only non-LJ friend I have who gets it (he's really active on an off-road message board). I mean, if I didn't have real-life friends I might think it was cause to get out more, but I think I keep a good balance. And besides, you guys are awesome. Everyone ought to be so blessed. :)

I guess I don't talk about Lj as much to my "real-life" friends. But then, I don't have that many real-life friends either. Steven understands- he's an internet/computer dork himself anyway. Part of it is that I'm still fairly new to Lj having only been here a few weeks- I'm looking forward to having closer Lj friends to talk about to my real-life friends! I think it is so awesome how close yall are and that you even call each other. (I'm jealous!) You are right, it is a blessing. :-)

:) Well, I'm glad you're around. And it's good that you have a husband who understands.

Oooo. I like the purple. And I'm not normally a purple fan. I had a complete blast chatting it up with you last night. I didn't expect to giggle that much and didn't realize how much I needed to just have fun. I hate when life gets all serious and stuff.

The potatoes were yummy yummy. Anything with cheese can't turn out badly. Joe skipped lunch because I told him I was making twice baked potatoes and came home starving!

My real life friends are all mostly long distance, but I've talked to Danielle and my mom about Internet friends a lot. They both think that's it's neat, but I don't think that they get it. Joe has a little Republican community that he is involved in, so he gets it. But he still can't keep all of you straight! Hahaha.

Ooop! Gotta run to the allergist!
Lauren

:D

Well, there are a lot of us. I can imagine it's hard to keep track when you're not the one talking to all these people. :)

Glad the potatoes were good! Thanks again for calling me!

If you go to http://www.livejournal.com/customize and to the Edit button at the bottom, and then to Colors, you can choose colors in a little pop-up window. The main color spectrum doesn't always show up, so you might have to click around randomly to find the color. Did that make any sense?

I know you do! I was thinking mainly of people who lived here. But you do get it and I'm glad. Sorry. :)

Did you get the birthday present I sent you? I still haven't gotten yours. I think something is up with the mail.

My close friends know and seem fine about LJ, but I don't talk about it to coworkers or distant friends. I always imagine they'll think I'm totally weird. Maybe they won't. I'm lucky because Jonathan and Dania both have LJs, so of course they understand. Dawn probably doesn't completely get it, but I think she's intrigued. She's used to me having online friends, though.

Yeah. I don't talk about it to co-workers, either, but I can't really hide it from my family and friends since I came to visit you. :) I mean, they don't have the URL or anything, except Em because this is the best way for her to keep up with me, but they know I spend a lot of time online and know people.

Yes, it's very neat that you and Jonathan and Dania are all part of our community. :)

You should have looked for me! :-) I go to Wednesday nights, unless I'm deathly ill or something. :-) I'm always in the Sr. High room, if you know where that is.

I don't really talk about LJ friends very much. I've found that most people don't relate, and I can talk about you guys on here, so it's no biggie to me. I have talked about you before, just because you go to my church and everything, though.

I was going to, but the front part of the church was so dark and deserted, I thought all the groups were over. I have another practice in two weeks- maybe we can meet after that. :)

:) Yay! You're nice.

As I don't get to see my real life friends all that often, the only one who knows I journal is Kevin, who I think is a little perplexed that I'd invest all this time in people I'll probably never meet in the flesh. As I get to know people here, I'll inevitably start mentioning things LJ-related in every other conversation :). I know some of my friends are more internet-inclined and have chatroom friends and such, while others just aren't interested and would rather curl up with a good book.

Journaling can be such a nice way of getting beyond chitchat and saying what one means to say, which is, I think, the reason I read journals and write one.

Ooh, I talk a lot about my LJ friends. I find myself talking to people who either don't use LJ or very rarely & just talking to them about all my LJ friends....then noticing the drop in the convo, so I just kinda :-X I think they kinda understand....but not completely, lol. It would help if some of them were friends with my LJ friends as well....but we all have such diff tastes :P

I had a conversation about LJ with my boss the other day (funny, it was that night that the newspaper called me to talk about my journal). I think he's a little intrigued, but thinks I'm weird at the same time.

I talk about you guys all the time! Throughout the day, something will happen and I'll often think "wow, I really need to tell Jessica/Brenda/Lawson/etc. about this!"

I have some real life friends who have LJs, so that helps... But there aren't many of my friends who "get" it. But the weird thing is, that soon they may be reading this journal whether I like it or not!

Some think it's totally weird, some have started their own lj..haha...but more don't understand it than those who do.
