I'm tired today, probably because of the overcast weather. I've been sleeping more to get adjusted to Daylight Savings, but it doesn't matter how early I go to bed...my body still thinks it's 5 am when I wake up. There's no cure for that. :P

We have a nice neighborhood cat who occasionally stalks the door of our building, wanting to be let in. When I went home at lunch it was there, and it greeted me by cutely rubbing against my legs. I suddenly realized that every cat I've ever "met" has done this, except Gandalf. He never has, even when we first got him. What's up with that?

My last band practice before Easter is tonight. Also, I've been signed up to do a flute trio the first Sunday in May, so we'll be having rehearsals for that. It has a lot of tricky rhythms, and I am rhythm-illiterate. After thirteen years of playing, if it's any more fast/complicated than straight sixteenth notes, I have to have it clapped out for me. It's sad.

George was incredible on American Idol last night. His fan base seems to be growing weekly. I'm starting to wonder if he could actually win, and prove that America has taste. :)

I saw the most hilarious Sonic commercial last night. Two guys are in a car ordering low-carb wraps:
Guy 1: So you're doing the low-carb thing, huh?
Guy 2: Yeah...I'm doing some thing. I'm cutting back on my Vitamin E.
Guy 1: Vitamin E?
Guy 2: Everyone's cutting back on something. I figured Vitamin E was a good choice.

I made a poll about perfume, because it was on my mind.
[Poll #275276]

To clarify, I like all of those scents but Jonathan tends to just like floral, clean or calm (according to your descriptions), so that's usually what I wear. Jovan White Musk isn't musky, in my opinion. It's soft, sweet and clean, which is what I prefer for myself. I've always been into more "innocent" powdery sweet scents than the others. Many of the floral perfumes are tooooo strong!! So I really only like some of them. They so often don't smell like the flower at all. Gardenia Lily, for instance, does not smell like gardenias or lilies. But I do like it a lot and so does Jonathan, so it all works out.

Okay, so I chose "musky" mostly because I like your Jovan White Musk and I figured that's what musky was. (-:

Haha.. I figured you chose musky because men's colognes fall into that category more often. I think of musky as more of a heavy and warm scent.

Yeah, I don't like heavy florals either. Just the nice light ones. I've been thinking of trying the Gardenia Lily...I love lilies.

Huzzah. I am the only male respondant so far.

Perfume, like makeup, is nice in moderation. I like it when I can tell a girl is wearing perfume when I stand close to her. I don't like it when I can tell a girl is wearing perfume when I walk into the room.

I never wore cologne until this year. A guy my roommate knows was allergic to all his colognes that people kept giving him, so he gave them all away when he moved. I inherited a bunch of them. I just wear it when I'm visiting Jessica, mostly.

Yay, thanks for responding! I knew I could count on you. :)

Yes, and the same holds true for guys. I think a lot of guys have a nice natural, soapy scent without having to wear cologne. Evan always smells great and I don't think he even owns cologne. :)

It's the aftershave! :) Jonathan always smells yummy even sans cologne, and that's either because of aftershave or even deoderant that is scented. Also, his clothes always smell clean and nice.

I'm the second! I was busy playing Splinter Cell, so I wasn't on LJ ;o)

And I'm the same way with perfume in moderation. I was teaching a lesson earlier and we had to be in a hallway. This lady walked through and I could smell her perfume for the rest of the lesson (like, 20 minutes) it was so strong! Yuck! But there's nothing like walking by a cute girl and then you inhale and it's like, "Aaaaaah...that's the stuff." *sigh* ;o)

I only wear cologne when I'm going somewhere like Church or, more rarely, a date. I don't wear it in a typical day, though.

I love the Sonic commercials in general, but I hadn't seen that one yet. Gosh- I gotta watch more TV! LOL
I like the one where they go to a drive-through (Not at Sonic, of course) and ask for the list of milkshake flavors and then say "Um, can you repeat that because you got cut off after chocolate and vanilla!" (something like that anyway..) I really like Sonic. :-)

LOL! Those are so funny. I like Sonic, too, but I can't have their ice cream because it always gives me a stomachache. It's a sad mystery.

Maybe it's because of the 7 years of hearing people ask for "McNuggets" and "Happy Meals" at Chick-fil-A, but most of those Sonic commercials really get on my nerves. Of COURSE Sonic is the only one with things like the "little red button" (that commerical annoys me the most) and exotic flavors to put in your soda...THAT'S WHAT MAKES IT SONIC! If you're wanting, say, a Vanilla Dr. Pepper, you're not gonna go to McDonald's. You're gonna go to Sonic. Because they have it. And you shouldn't go making fun of the order-takers because they don't have three different types of cheese. It wasn't their choice.

Oh, and the one where they're all like acting it takes forever at the fast food place? I went to Sonic a couple of weeks ago and all I ordered was a drink and a burger, and it took them at least 5 minutes. I know all fast food places aren't Chick-fil-A, but we prided ourselves on only having people wait an average of 30 seconds at the window. Try THAT, Sonic!

...pant pant pant...

All that said, the Vitamin E commercial is quite funny. If not entirely untrue. My friend, Matt, works at Sonic, and he said the "carb friendly" tortilla still has like 15 grams of carbs! I hope he was mistaken, but they never do say how many are in it, so it makes me wonder.

Oh, and I really do like Sonic's food, btw. I go there a lot. It's just their more recent advertising that has gotten on my quick-service-bred nerves ;o)
From: [identity profile] my-everafter.livejournal.com
LOL You're right, Sonic always takes forever... much much longer than other drive-throughs. Steven and I always complain about that, but still go there very regularly so we're pretty much used to it.
And you can't really compare them, but I still think the commercials are funny. Don't worry though- if I had ever worked at another fast-food place, I'd probably be on your side. :-) I can see how they'd be very offensive. I guess I'm just that much of a Sonic fan that I like them.

I totally agree- I'm so proud of George! I really love it especially because I have liked him from the beginning since they said he "looked old".

I tried to vote last night but couldn't get through- a good sign!

In case you haven't seen this article:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4649112/

And we should start a sidebar on who, in bldg A, wears too much cologne/perfume - there are so many offenders!

perfumes in moderation

My perfume rule is, if I can smell it when I wear it, it's too strong - I know that one becomes acclimatized to a scent when one always smells it. a small squirt of eau du toilette is my limit.

Miracle L'Aquatonic is my favourite men's cologne. I actually have a small sample of it I threaten to squirt on Kevin for special occasions :p.

Thanks! I added you. I'm kind of new to this LJ stuff and don't really know the proper etiquette for adding complete strangers to my friends list. =)
